Expressive Art Exhibition

Storytelling gives children an opportunity to revisit their experiences and to express feelings. My Odyssey, sponsored by Societe Generale, is a project that combines storytelling with expressive art and encourages children to connect with others in non verbal ways. The project was carried out in Tin Shui Wai, Yuen Long and Sham Shui Po, and 120 children from six schools participated.

The "Expressive Art Exhibition” which will display the artworks of these students is held in Central Oasis at the end of June. There will be workshops on expressive art and an exhibition of picture books related to emotions for children and parents to enjoy.

The Story Hub

With the generous support from Societe Generale and The Partnership Fund for the Disadvantaged, we launched a new service unit called the Story Hub in April 2014. This centre is located at the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Building in Quarry Bay. It serves as a meeting point for working parents who are looking for personal growth and to enhance their relationship with their children. Lunch time reading clubs and storytelling workshops will be provided, with an emphasis on the emotional health among family members. A caring partners' gathering was held on 23 May to commemorate the opening of the centre, sharing the joyful moment with HAC.

Fairybus Campaign

An ordinary bus will turn into the "Fairy Bus” this summer! Children with tickets can join these storytelling and dream sharing events co-organised by HAC and NWS Holdings. Ms. Yip Pui Yin, a badminton medal winner at the Asian Games, will be the ambassador of the event and share her experience in realising her own goal with children.

The result of "Dream Sharing” was announced in the following link, congratulations to all winners, award ceremony will be held on 26 July.

Love Nature, Love Books

Ten volunteers from Morgan Stanley came to Storyland to read with children on 30 May and 7 June. "Love Nature” is the theme of this quarter, therefore volunteers choose picture books "Elmer” and "You are a Lion!” to share with children. It was hoped that through the stories, children could learn to appreciate nature and themselves. With the assistance from the volunteers, children also made art works related to the main characters of the story books at the end of the storytelling session.
