Kudos for a volunteer of Lamma Island

Mr. Lai Yiu Sing joined Lamma Island Centre as a volunteer after his retirement three years ago. He leads a green life and loves the small island. Every month he and his wife go to visit elderly people who live solitary. The couple usually bring along children members from different races to encourage social inclusion.

Complementary booklet on “Little Links, Unlimited Dreams” project

People from different walks of life were matched up in the “Little Links, Unlimited Dreams” project to enjoy the realm of storytelling together. These people included students from primary and secondary schools, volunteers from the commercial sector and children with special needs. By learning and growing together they gradually build up a network in the local community.

Two thousand people vote for their favourite picture book

Hans Andersen Club launched the creative picture book competition in the first quarter of 2013. Over five hundred picture books were received. Children and their parents rewrote the ending of four classical fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen, namely The Ugly Duckling, The Little Mermaid, The Little Match Seller and The Brave Tin Soldier.

The Little Fashion Photographers

On 4 May 2013, ten volunteers from Societe Generale brought children members of HAC to the Avenue of Stars at the Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront Promenade for the exhibition, “Photographers of Elegance”. The exhibition of photos by the Séeberger brothers, Jules (1872-1932), Louis (1874-1946) and Henri (1876-1956), represents a selection of the most beautiful and iconic images that helped to shape how ‘French elegance’ is perceived today.
