Creative Picture Book Competition

By the end of the competition on 9 March 2013 we received almost 500 picture books, thank you very much for your hard work! The names of participants and a selection of outstanding picture books are listed on HAC’s 50th anniversary website.

New Adventure of the Ugly Duckling

Help! A beautiful duck is so contaminated by the garbage in the sea; it has become an ugly duckling!

A beautiful duck starts its journey from the wonderland to “Tai O - Venice of the East”. Unfortunately, the environment is so dirty that the duckling’s feather turned dark. The duckling urgently needs help from wise parents and children to complete various tasks to save the environment, so that it can turn clean and beautiful again.

Mosaic with Love

In early 2013, with the design support from Aedas, children members of HAC helped to make two walls of mosaic for Chuk Yuen Centre during its renovation work.

On 1 March 2013, children were invited to Aedas office, located on Hong Kong Island East, to work on the designs of the walls. Characters like the Ugly Duckling and the Little Mermaid were chosen as the theme.

Quality Books for Children

Thanks to the generous donation from Microsoft (HK) Ltd, children members of Diana Boyd Wilson (DBW) Centre received 66 new books in March 2013.

Some of these books were used as gifts for the children; others were put into the reading corner of DBW for borrowing. These books included books about Korea and Iran allowing the children to “travel” to different areas of the world and learn about their culture and history.
