The Hong Kong Young Writers Awards

The Hong Kong Young Writers Awards (HKYWA) is thrilled to partner with Hans Andersen Club (HAC) as the official charity this year. The competition was established with the goal to improve literacy across Asia by encouraging creativity in English language writing and art. Associating with a charity that enables the holistic development of children through education, reading and writing in Hong Kong is crucial to achieving this goal.

In exchange for the awareness and donation raised through the HKYWA, Hans Andersen Club is pleased to judge the student entries for Fiction: Group 2 relating to the theme ‘New Tales of the Gobi Desert’. This month the HAC representative, Ms. Brenda Leung, will judge and select one winning student from the 200 Fiction entries submitted from Primary school students across Hong Kong and China.

The Awards Ceremony held at Cyberport on 30 April, 2014 will accommodate 340 guests and recognise all the outstanding students with prizes and trophies. To close the ceremony, the HKYWA 2014 will award a significant donation of $10,000 to HAC, marking the importance of charitable giving to the competition. Two extremely generous donors - Lee Shiu Hei Marcus and Lee Wang Hei Aden - have agreed to match this donation and make the HKYWA contribution twice as significant for those in need.
