Lamma Island Centre was established in 2001. HAC is the only charitable organization serving children and teenagers on the island.

In the past, the HAC only had an outreach team to serve the needs of outlying islanders. Nowadays, with the support from different people and organisations, HAC has established a centre on Lamma Island and provides services to children and families from all over the world.

Jockey Club Sunshine Lamma Project    1st January 2015 to 31st December 2017

Project Aims

This project is funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. It makes good use of both natural resources and volunteers of Lamma Island, serving children and their families. HAC provides the platform for residents to contribute their talents regardless of their ages, cultures and backgrounds. The goal of this project is to develop a sustainable and social inclusive community.

Project contents

1. Relax in Story Garden

Through creative stories, eco-tour and recycle activities, we facilitate parents and children to release their pressure from the city, experience the healing power of the nature, and obtain ecological and environmental knowledge.

2.Sharing via Community Farm

The Community Farm gathers plant lovers to share their knowledge on gardening. It is also an idealplace for families to learn farming techniques and connect with the nature.

3. Cultural Cohesion among Children

To better support the families on the island, academic and social skill training will be given to children through tutorials and cultural cohesion activities. The after school development programme facilitates children coming from different backgrounds to integrate in the community and make friends.

4. Volunteers Foster Sustainable Community

Children, women, early retired people, everyone can contribute their fortes to help making Lamma Island a better place to live in. Volunteers from companies are welcome to join in community farming, elderly visits and various social inclusion programmes. Together we build a sustainable community.
