The Storyland at the Chuk Yuen Estate Community Centre has already opened! Surely you would like to know more about our facilities and services.

No matter how old you are, "stories" and "storytelling" must be familiar to you. Hans Andersen's "The Ugly Duckling", "The little Match Seller" must be one of your favorite bedside stories! And we hope to achieve the mission and vision of the Hans Andersen Club, by creating the 'happiest childhood' at Storyland for children in the community.

Today, our dreams have come true!

At Storyland, we believe that reading is the perfect way to broaden children's horizons and nourish their minds. Storytelling also plays a significant role in promoting one's imagination, self confidence and parent-child relationships. We have thus incorporated storytelling as the core of our services since our opening in 2006. We aim to provide diversified services to children and families throughout Hong Kong, and to cultivate a harmonious society with the power of storytelling.

Our Serices

Reading Sowers in Community Project (Phase 2)

This project is supported by The Hongkong Bank Foundation through a donation to The Community Chest of Hong Kong.

1. Storytelling Workshop for Parents
   - Share techniques and experiences in storytelling
   - Promote parent-child communication by means of storytelling

   - High quality books are available for borrowing
   - Accessible and focused resources on our website (www.storytelling.org.hk)
   - Consultation service for schools and organizations in activity design
   
   
   
   
3. Paired Reading
   - Enhance children's interest in reading through games and interactive storytelling
   - Choosing suitable books to cater for the needs of children in different ages
   - Encourage active learning and personal growth
   
   
   
   
4. Volunteers Training and Social Service
   - Provide training for individual and corporate volunteers, spreading the love of reading to society
   - Responding to the community's needs and support families in need
   
   

Our Strategic Objectives

• To create a fairytale and open atmosphere for needy children

• To induce positive messages to children by stories
• To reinforces children's linguistic abilities and self-confidence by story role-playing.
