Play through Hong Kong
Under the present economic turmoil, many families are facing
a difficult time. HAC recently published a local travel book
for children and families, "Play through Hong Kong", introducing
low budget places to visit in Hong Kong to help cheering up
parents and children. (For detail contents of the book, please refer to Chinese version.)

Recommendation from pop singer Renee Dai
Hong Kong is a small place, but if you pay close
attention, you will find that there are a lot of interesting
places suitable for parent-child activities. This
book aims at showing parents places and games which
are low-budget and full of fun. I will introduce you
to a place that I have used to make a movie: the "Kowloon
Walled City Park". It impressed me by its historical
background and the beautiful Chinese style design.
It is a fantastic place for family photo shooting.
The shopping mall next to the park also has many small
restaurants to relax after visiting the park. It can
be easily reached by public transportation, so let's
go to the park this weekend with your family!

Closing Ceremony of "Toys for Our
Joy" and "Toys' Angel" Projects
With
the generous donation from "Partnership Fund For the Disadvantaged
(PFFD)", Social Welfare Department and Mattel Asia Pacific
Sourcing Limited (Mattel), HAC launched the captioned projects.
These projects aim to encourage parents to play creative games
with their own children. Children from different age groups
were also linked up to form peer support groups and played
together. To close the project in a meaningful way, HAC published
a practical hand book, "Play through Hong Kong" to further
encourage parents in Hong Kong to go out and have fun with
their children in difficult times.
The closing ceremony of the projects was held in Hollywood
Plaza at Diamond Hill. Officiating guests including Ms. Julie
Lee from PFFD (forth from left), Ms. Wong Siu-ling of Social
Welfare Department (right), Ms. Haster Kwan of Mattel (third
form left) and Ms. May Wong from HAC (second from left).
May Wong, Executive Director of HAC, said in the ceremony
that enjoying a good time with children does not need to be
expensive. She suggested parents to play with their children
for 15 to 20 minutes every day using household materials like
newspaper. Many creative games could then be derived. A parent,
Wong Yuk Lan, shared that after she joined the programs, she
got to know many inexpensive ways to play with her own son,
and their relationship also got more intimate.
Six stalls of games were put in the venue for the enjoyment
of all participants. Magician Brother Harry and Pop Singer
Ms. Renee Dai played happily with over 300 audience in the
venue. All participants were given the new book.
