The Hans Andersen Club Limited (HAC) has created
this privacy statement to demonstrate the HACs firm
commitment to the privacy of any personal data we hold and
the principles and obligations set out in the Personal Data
(Privacy) Ordinance.
Our Privacy Policy
When the HAC collects information from you, it is our policy
to meet fully the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy)
Ordinance which regulates the treatment of personal data.
Personal data is any information relating to any living individual
from which it is possible to identify that individual. In
dealing with personal data, we will ensure compliance by our
staff with the standards of security and confidentiality prescribed
by law.
This Statement explains our practice in relation to the collection,
retention, storage and sharing of personal data.
Collection
of Personal Information
The HAC will occasionally collect personal data from you which
will be processed for the specific purpose which will be given
at the time or for any purposes stated in this Privacy Policy
Statement. Such purposes may include fulfillment of your specific
requests or applications relating to our services, the processing
of your complaints, enquiries or feedback, or the collection
of information in connection with the use of conference or
services maintained by the HAC. The provision of personal
data or any information is voluntary, however, any failure
to supply all information requested by the HAC may result
in our being unable to process your requests fully or at all.
In addition to any specific purpose, where personal data is
provided by you, the HAC may occasionally use such data to
send you materials regarding our services. At the time of
collection of the personal data you will be given the option
to opt-out from receiving such materials. You may also change
your preference with regard to such materials at any time
by sending e-mail to us at go@hac.org.hk.
The HAC may record your Internet Protocol (IP) address when
you visit any of our sites and/or servers. The HAC website(s)
archives web server log files in order to create aggregate
statistical reports on the usage of our websites and may also
be disclosed by the HAC in the case of any unlawful user of
our websites.
You may be asked to provide personal information to the HAC,
including, but not limited to:
- your name;
- your electronic mail address;
- your postal mailing address;
- your home and/or work telephone
number(s);
- your personal identity card/passport
number.
The HAC requests this personal information
for purposes of verification and keeping records of your identity,
correspondence with you relating to the services we provide,
or for conducting any specific HAC services which you have
requested or to which you have agreed.
Some of this information or occasionally, some personal data
may be gathered through the use of "cookies". Cookies
are small bits of information that are automatically stored

can be retrieved by that website. If we use cookies to collect
your personal data, we will inform you of such use at the

When collecting personal data over the Internet, the HAC will
use such secured encryption systems as are appropriate to
the nature of the data being collected.

the HAC. Persons designated by the HAC to handle personal

Any personal data the HAC receive from you will not be disclosed
by the HAC to any party outside the HAC except as provided

You should note that as the HAC have

in accordance with our policy. The HAC endeavors to deal only
with responsible third parties but assumes no responsibility
for the privacy protection provided by such third parties.

Personal information you provide to the HAC will be retained
only for such period as may be necessary for the carrying
out of the purposes referred to in this Privacy Policy Statement
or as otherwise specified at the time of collection.
